Psyched up for adventure
June 30th, 2008
So after completing the 45km Great Ocean Road Marathon, i haven't done a long run for ages. I think i had my share of just pure running. I've turned my attention now to Adventure Racing. I started looking up races in Melbourne on the great thing we call the world wide web and found a few...
- : Oct 4
- 38 km Mountain Bike
- 26 km Paddle
- 25 km Run
- : Dec 7
- Ocean Swim & Beach Run (1.9km swimming, ~500m's of running)
- Ocean Kayak (13km)
- Keen Coastal / Trail Run (11.2km)
- Mountain Bike (24km)
- Beach Run (1.5km)
- : 2009
- 20km run
- 79km ride
- 32km paddle
I think adventure races always come with these 3 core sports: running, mountain biking, and kayaking. I have backgrounds in both running and kayaking. I have very little experience in mountain biking, especially on dirt tracks.

With that, i got Eliott psyched up about adventure racing and he told me he's interested in the Murray one. Its in NSW, so we gotta drive about 6 hrs to the place, which will be a road trip in itself. It'll be fun. I'm so glad i got him as a friend and we can do these crazy stuff together. I might be attempting the Anaconda Lorne if i get out of the Upper Murray unscathed.

So, to mountain biking shopping. The kayak is too pricey to buy; we'll just rent. Maybe i'll get one in the future, who knows.
